David
From shepherd to king, a heart that looked like God's.
David was effectively the founder of the Kingdom, debatably the greatest king that Israel would ever know. He was a shepherd, a poet, and a king. He was not perfect, and he made some huge mistakes, but in the end, his heart was aligned with God’s heart.
On Small Beginnings — what was David doing out there with the sheep, before Samuel came to anoint him as king. He wasn’t wasting his time.
A Conspiracy of Anointing — God sends Samuel to anoint the young shepherd he has chosen to be his next king of Israel.
Interlude — Before he becomes a great warrior, David gets a part-time job as the King’s musician.
Bonus Issue: Goliath is Coming — The story of David and Goliath is a big part of why the D6 Project happened. This bonus issue does not directly move the story forward, but it provides a glimpse into why all of this matters so much.
Enter the Giant — Goliath, the Philistine hero comes out to challenge Saul, but Saul isn’t up to the task.
Enter the Hero — David comes to the front to bring his brothers a care package, and while there, he learns of Goliath’s challenge, and Saul’s failure of faith.
